We are a training practice. This means we may have a G.P. Registrar wrking with us. The "G.P. Registrar" is a fully qualified doctor with at least three years experience in hospital who is learning about working in a general pracice.

We also have an additional lady doctor, currently Dr.J. Hortop working with us 3 sessions each week. She is an experienced G.P. on the "retainer scheme" which is a scheme to allow doctors with domestic commitments to continue working until they are able to return to a full time post.

Practice Manager
She organises the day to day running of the practice and trains and supervises the receptionists.
Practice Nurses
They run our various clinics and are available for dressings, injections, travel advice, removal of stitches, ear syringing and blood tests, Health Checks, ECG's in the surgery, or for the house bound, at home. They also visit the elderly..
Receptionists and Secretaries (5)
They arrange appointments and home visits, handle repeat prescriptions and advise on the services available.

Appointments

All surgeries are by appointment. Urgent cases will be seen the same day. You may consult whom you wish, but it is preferable to stay with one doctor for each particular problem. If you can't attend an appointment, please let us know, as it frees an appointment for others.

Telephoning the Doctor

The best time to talk to the doctors is half an hour before or after the listed surgery times.

Home Visits

If you are too ill to come to the surgery, a home visit can be arranged by telephone. Please try to phone before 10.00am.

Emergencies

If you require an urgent appointment or an urgent home visit, day or night, the number to telephone is always 334 4019. When the surgery is closed a recorded message will give you a number of the doctor on call so you will need to make another call. All night and weekend calls are dealth with by the G.P. Out Of Hours Service based at Arrowe Park Hospital.

Prescriptions
If you are taking regular medication we will give you a computer slip listing your medication. When you next require a prescription, hand in your slip at reception, or send it with a stamped addressed envelope. Your prescription should be available immediately. Please let us know if you do not require any of the medication on the list.
Test Results
Results usually take at least 5(five) days to come through. Smear tests take approximately 4(four) weeks. Please phone, or call at reception after 2.00pm.

How to find us
We are situated in Lancelyn Court Shopping Precinct (click here for map) which has parking facilities. We have recently extended the surgery, so we now have an additional consulting / councelling room upstairs and much more office space, plus a larger waiting area and improved access and toilet facilities for the disabled
