Information
Appointments

You will be registered with a named doctor and your routine appointments will be made with that doctor. You will be offered the next available routine appointment. If you are restricted as to when you can attend please give us as much notice as possible when making an appointment as the surgeries soon fill up. During periods of leave you will be offered an appointment with another doctor or an appointment when your doctor has returned.

If you need an urgent appointment you will be offered the next available appointment which may not be with your doctor.

It is most important that if you are unable to keep your appointment, inform the surgery as soon as possible so that it may be given to another patient. A recent survey indicated that patients who failed to attend their appointments represented a loss of 16 full working days in a year.

We operate an emergeny surgery on Saturday mornings which is available from 9.00am until 10.00am

Appointments are made by telephoning the surgery after 8.30am

Telephone Advice

The doctors are available to give advice over the telephone. The receptionist will ask for as much detail as you feel comfortable to give as this will prepare the doctor for when they speak to you.

If you require advice please call after 11.30am as the doctor will not have time to talk during surgery. If the doctor is unavailable the receptionist may ask you to call back at an appropriate time.

Home Visits

Home visits are at the discretion of the doctors. Please do not ask for a visit if you can make your way to the practice (remember, a doctor can see three patients in surgery in the time it takes for one home visit). even with conditions as a cough, earache, rash or a temperature, visiting the surgery will do no harm to the patient and will not endanger others.

When a visit is necessary please call before 10.00am, except in an emergency. When calling the receptionists must take sufficient details so that the requests are given the necessary priority by the doctor.

The doctor may phone to discuss the request before agreeing to the visit. House calls will only be made within the practice catchment area - Eastham, Bromborough, New Ferry and Bebington.

Emergency out of hours calls

There is always a dotor available for emergency home visits out of surgery hours.

If an emergency visit is required telephone (0151) 334 3621 where an answer machine will give clear instructions for contacting the on - call doctor. When calling, have a pen and paper ready to make notice of what is said.

Test Results
Please make any enquiries about test results between 11.00am and 6.00pm, but preferably in the afternoon after 2.00pm when the surgery is less busy. Although the surgery is open from 8.30am it is important that the early morning is kept as free as possible for requests for urgent appointments and house calls.
Repeat Prescriptions

If you take medication on a regular basis you will have a repeat prescription record kept on computer.

requests for repeat prescriptions can be made either; in person at the reception window or by handing in or posting, the right hand page of your prescription. It is your responsibility to ensure you have a continuous supply of medication, therefore all requests should be made a few days in advance of running out so that you have enough time to collect the prescription and have it dispensed before your current supply is finished.

We aim to have a prescription ready for collection Monday to Friday as follows:-

  • requests recieved before 12.00pm (noon) will be available after 12.00pm (noon) the next working day
  • requests after 12.00pm (noon) will be available after 4.00pm the next day

Don't forget, we are only open untill 10.00am on Saturdays and we are closed during Bank Holidays.

From time to time you will bhe asked to see the doctor or practice nurse to review the medication you recieve.

Change of Personal Details

If you change your name, address or telephone number please give us full details at reception, including your postcode.

If you move out of the practice area you will be asked to register with a new doctor in your new area. If you have any difficulty with this the Wirral Health Authority (FHSA) will be able to help you. The contact number is (0151) 651 0011, or alternatively, click here for information about changing your GP.
