Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist Women's Cancer

What can the nurse offer?

• Information for patients with breast or gynaeological cancer about their illness
• Advice on managing symptoms such as nausea or pain
• Information and advice on managing the side effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
• Support for patients or their families experiencing psychological distress. An important part of our role is to listen to the patient and members of their family and to answer their questions. In this way we may be able to alleviate anxiety and support them during their time at CCO.

The nurse is not available at weekends but a trained nurse is always available to deal with enquiries. Telephone the hospital (0151) 334 1155 and ask for the senior nurse on duty.
