REACTIONS TO THE TREATMENT

What Reaction Might I Have To The Treatment?

Proton beam treatment may make your eye and eyelid red. This redness varies from person to person, according to which part of the eye receives treatment.

When Could This Start?

This reaction does not usually start until after treatment has finished and becomes most intense about 3 to 4 weeks later.

How Can I Minimise This?

You can ease any reaction by looking after your eye and eyelids carefully.

Who Should I Contact With A Problem?

If you have any problems during or after treatment you can ring the proton radiographer on 0151 334 6366 (working hours). When you come for treatment you will given information on whom to contact in an emergency, outside working hours.
