Research Expenditure

The clinical trials programme is funded primarily from income from the NHS research fund allocation and research trials subvention monies, from accrued income associated with commercial trials, and from income provided by the national trials organisations.

The other research areas are funded primarily by a mixture of CCO Research Endowment and other charitable research funding.

The following table is taken from the 1999/2000 R&D report and indicates the planned expenditure for each research activity area. Column B indicates the money from NHS R&D funds, and column G indicates funding from other sources. This table excludes CCO input to the CCRT laboratory research programme.
