It is available on a full or part-time basis and consists of 4 modules which are designed to integrate theory and practice. The course consists of weekly study days plus practice placements. On successful completion, students will gain 60 credits at level 2. The course consists of 2 modules. Module 1 is designed to give AHPs a broad overview of oncology and cancer services. Module 2 is designed to offer AHPs the opportunity to apply in-depth knowledge of cancer treatments, and their effects, to the role of the multi-professional team in cancer care. Each module will consist of 7 full days throughout each semester. Module 1 may be taken as a stand alone module or in conjunction with Module 2, to form the CCO award in Oncology Care. On completion, students will gain 15 credits per module at level 3. It is designed to give AHPs a broad overview of oncology and cancer services from a multi professional perspective and is aimed at qualified practitioners working in a range of settings. The module may be taken as a stand alone module, or in conjunction with module 2 of the taught programme, to form the CCO award in Oncology Care. On successful completion, students will gain 15 credits per module at level 3. | Wednesday, April 11, 2001 - 07:01 am | CARE OF PATIENT REQUIRING CHEMOTHERAPY (Previously known as ENB N59) In association with the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Chester College of Higher education This is a 3 week course which is suitable for nurses who wish to develop in-depth knowledge and skills in the theory and practice related to Intravenous Administration of Cytotoxic Drugs. Candidates should be registered nurses with a minimum of 6 months post registration experience including care of patients with cancer, in addition to a course in IV additives and phlebotomy skills. The 15 days are divided into 1 week of theory and 2 weeks of practice. On successful completion, students will gain 15 credits at level 2 and the ENB N59. The Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology is very pleased to announce its 8th successive annual conference to drive forward cancer care delivery. Primarily the Cancer Plan has set the agenda for all health care professionals, which should result in faster and more effective health care for patients with cancer. It is a major programme of action linking prevention, diagnosis, treatment, care and research. Cancer Care 2002 will explore how cancer care has been affected and will provide the opportunity for all health care professionals within the multi-professional team to share innovation and service development. This conference is suitable for cancer care professionals in primary, secondary, tertiary and palliative care and the voluntary sector. Reflecting the direction of the Cancer Plan, abstracts are invited on issues related to improving prevention, screening, treatment, care and cancer services in the community. Other aspects to be included are investing in staff and facilities, research, genetics, waiting times for diagnosis and treatment, and finally how the Cancer Plan may be implemented.
