Improvements to buildings and the environment
During 1999/2000, the Trust completed the following developments:

• building of a new bunker for a Linear Accelerator.
• extension and improvements to car parking facilities.
• upgrade of main radiotherapy corridor.

The following medical equipment was purchased and/or installed during the year:

• new Linear Accelerator
• new Simulator
• Computed Tomography workstation
• Ambulift hoists for the wards
• Cobalt source
• High Voltage X-rays/ Medium Voltage X-rays.

Developments planned for 2000/01 include:

• building of two new bunkers and installation of a new Linear Accelerator
• purchase and installation of a new gamma camera with Positron Emission Tomography imaging facility
• purchase and installation of Integrated Brachytherapy Unit for Theatres
• refurbishment of Theatre
• comprehensive improvement to hospital-wide heating system
• extension to Cytotoxic Pharmacy Unit.
