Wirral Health Informatics Service has produced a leaflet and booklet
which helps explain what happens to your information and how new technology
is being used to help deliver patient care both quickly and securely.
The booklet will also tell you how you can access your health information
under the Data Protection Act 1998. You can visit www.dataprotection.gov.uk
for more information about Data Protection and your rights of access.
Each NHS organisation has a Caldicott Guardian who is responsible
for agreeing and reviewing protocols governing the disclosure of patient
indentifiable information within the NHS and across organisational
boundaries. The name of the Caldicott Guardian for each of the 5 NHS
organisations in Wirral can be found within the individual Freedom
of Information Publication Schemes on www.wirralhealth.org.uk/foi.
The Caldicott Support Officer to all the Caldicott Guardians is based
at Wirral Health Informatics Service, St Catherine's Hospital, Church
Road, Birkenhead CH42 0LQ
