How it will help?
The EHR is designed to provide the following benefits to you, the patient:
- If you have tests done at the hospital, your results
will be made available to your GP and therefore to you much quicker than
before ... no more waiting ages for test results.
- If you suffer from a major illness like heart disease
or cancer or you have a significant condition like diabetes, those treating
you will have access to full details of your condition and what treatment
you've had, which means they can care for you better.
- Soon, there will be a record kept of all the vaccinations
and immunisations you've had … no more trying to remember.
- Any outpatient appointments you have coming up will be officially listed. So will any appointments you have coming up for operations.
- If you need urgent emergency treatment you may
not be in any condition to tell the doctors about your health history,
allergies, etc. In such a case, the doctors will be able to see all they
need to know in your Electronic Health Record.
