Ear acupuncture can
be used to help reduce cravings for drugs and alcohol. It
can also help reduce withdrawal symptoms, tension and stress.
It helps to clear the mind and gives a positive sense of well
being. It promotes deep relaxation and helps to promote better
sleep.
The belief is that
by placing acupuncture needles in the ear it helps to eliminate
harmful toxins in the body and increase energy and improve
physical and emotional well being.
Acupuncture is an
ancient Chinese form of healing. Five small needles are places
in both ears.
The Sympathetic point - this makes you
ready to receive treatment and also is a pain relieving
point
The Shenman - the Chinese word means "Gateway
to the soul" and concerns your spiritual and emotional
area
The kidney - this is a very important
organ in detox and is instrumental in treating drugs/alcohol
withdrawal
The liver - also important in detoxification
and is useful in treating anger and depression
The lungs - helps to regulate breathing
and helps enable you to mentally 'let go' of stress
Once the needles have
been inserted it is important to rest quietly for 60 minutes
initially and 45 minutes for future treatments.
Acupuncture is used in addition
to other treatments and is not a substitute for therapy.
