| Chester Alcohol Service
offers help and support to anyone whose life is being affected
by alcohol. The service offers information, advice, education,
support and 'treatment' to individuals experiencing alcohol-related
problems. |

| We also help others
whose lives / work may be affected by alcohol e.g. families,
friends, the general public, other agencies, services and
organisations. |
| |
| The aim of the Service
is to enable and support clients in making alcohol-related
changes, be it abstinence, controlled drinking or harm minimisation.
The emphasis is on reducing risk and promoting health within
the model of 'The Stages of Change' (Prochaska and DiClemente)
using motivational interviewing techniques, brief interventions
and on-going support. |

The Service also aims to raise alcohol awareness within
the community promoting healthy lifestyles and providing
training and education for those interested.
It is also committed to early detection and intervention,
working with key groups in accordance with recent government
initiatives and research findings e.g. National Alcohol
Strategy, National Healthy Schools Standard, Clinical Practice
Benchmarking etc.
